Flu-Buster Smoothie Recipe Seemed to Work for Us

So my husband seemed like he was coming down with the flu last week, but he BEAT it! I have a suspicion that my green smoothies may be the answer to how to tackled a possible flu.

We were having these smoothies twice daily last week when my husband felt a little iffy for a few days. Could it have been the flu? I don't know, but that seems to be the number one illness going around right now. Neither me nor my son got even a little bit sick and my husband fought off whatever was bugging him.

Fingers crossed, as I think about getting us all flu shots.

Anyway, here is the recipe for a delicious power smoothie.

RECIPE:
It serves Mom, Dad and baby so adjust accordingly.

Blend the following ingredients until liquefied and serve (2x daily):
All organic if possible

2 Apples skinned and cored
1 small handful of Kale
1 handful of Spinach
5 large Strawberries (fresh or frozen)
2 fresh or frozen Kiwis, 3/4 cup raspberries or 3/4 cup cherries (your choice)
6-8 oz Juice (Apple, Apple Grape, White Grape... your choice)
2-4 oz water
3-6 ice cubes
(optional - 1/2 banana)

Sub fruits for how sweet or sour you would like it. Rasberries and Kiwis will make it sour and seem to cover up the "green-ness" best. Strawberries and Cherries will make it sweet.

I'll admit, I was a little skeptical of the "green" smoothie, but raising my son vegetarian has made me super-nutritionally conscious, so we tried it out. My son loved it. I seriously made him try this one, first, before I tried it and I was a little shocked that we both like it.

I blend my smoothie REALLY well in my Vitamix.  My husband is worlds pickiest eater, with a long list of 'I don't likes' and he likes it too.

We have been drinking 2 of these per day, lots of water and we are getting outside and walking, too.

Feeling gooood so far... :)
