When I was making my Spicy Spider hors d'oeuvres, I got a little tired of assembling all the olive spiders, but I still had cheese mixture left. I decided to make these cute little cheese "pumpkins".
The cheese mixture was my own recipe, but you could certainly use a different combo of cheese and cream cheese. A store bought orange cheese spread would look really cool as a pumpkin, too!
Here's what you NEED:
crackers
spreadable cheese (I made my own, recipe to follow)
almonds (crushed)
cucumber
My Homeade Cheese Ingredients:
I used Tillamook Garlic Chili Sharp Cheddar and Horizon Organic Cream Cheese.
1 block cream cheese
8 oz cheddar or interesting, spicy orange cheese, shredded
small jar of roasted red peppers or small red pepper roasted
optional:
chili pepper
??? you decide ???
Cheese Instructions:
I used a deep tablespoon and regular spoon to form a nice faceted pumpkin shape. I suppose you could use a melon baller or something to that effect.
Then I dipped it into crushed almonds.
Then I garnished with a cucumber "stem" and a parsley leaf.
Altogether, they make a really cute pumpkin patch!
