Veggie Easter Chick Party Platter

Here is a very special veggie party platter I came up with for Easter! It is an Easter chick made out of yellow cauliflower and it is super easy to put together.

I like to use my divided plastic tray with a little block of styrofoam hot-glued into the center. I have re-used this set-up many times and it works out really nicely.

Once you have a head of yellow cauliflower ready for the body, use a bunch of round toothpicks in the bottom to lock it into the styrofoam in the tray.

Then, use another head of cauliflower for the head. Make sure you can almost see a "face" as in 2 eys and a mouth in the head you choose. Spike that piece into the first piece with toothpicks.

Use toothpicks cut in half to attach olive slices for eyes.

and for the beak.

Do a little cosmetic surgery by adding pieces of cauliflower to fill in any gaps.

Carve a couple pieces for wings.

Jam the wings in with more toothpicks.

Fill in the base with curly kale.

Slice an 'x' in small sweet peppers to slide quartered carrot sticks into, to make them look like flowers.

Cut an orange pepper for 'feet'.

Add fresh veggies to dip in bunches around the chick and serve with your favorite dip!

  1. Hi, Coming at you from Blogging to Success. You are very creative with your veggies!! That's making the most with what you got which is what we LOVE. Why put out a crudité platter when you can do this? AWESOME! Just to let you know, not sure if it's on our end, but your page was hard to load and we had to try to get on your page twice. Could be on our end but just wanted to give you a heads up just in case it's not. Have a GREAT day! SalvageSisterandMister.com

    1. Thank you! Well, at least it gives you enough time to get your hands on the yellow cauliflower. I had a little bit of a tough time getting my hands on some!

  5. You are so terribly creative - I'm just in awe with every veggy platter I see on your site. 3D platters are so much more interesting than the flat kind. Your divided tray is a must have. Have never seen yellow cauliflower, but come next Easter - I'll be on the look out for it. Thanks for taking so much time to post your photos & wonderful instructions.
