Easy Food Processor Sprouted Green Lentils Vegan Veggie Burger

I'm pretty proud of my latest veggie burger recipe for a few reasons. First, it looks store bought. I achieved a perfect shape and thickness, mostly due to my second reason -- it has a great consistency. It is also extremely easy!

Do you have to use sprouted lentils for this recipe? Probably not. I had these truRoots Organic Sprouted Green Lentils which were just PERFECT, but you can use whatever lentils (or even different legumes) you like.

I just like the truRoots Lentils because they are Non-GMO, organic, cook up SO fast, and are more tasty and nutritious IMO.

I used Trader Joes Organic Basmati Brown Rice because it cooks fast, too, in 15 min! It helps make this recipe super easy and super fast.

My measurements are easy, I stick to 1 cup/1 tsp measurements and it ALL went into the food processor at once! Finally, the flavor and spices were really good. Even Hubby liked it. He is the taste buds of this family, so just a passing grade is a big deal. If he actually acknowledges goodness, pictures are taken and I'm writing it up.

What you need:
1 cup cooked sprouted green lentils or some other type lentil
1 cup cooked brown rice
1 cup oat flour (rolled oats after food processor)
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup vital wheat gluten
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon red (cayenne) pepper

What you do:

Cook your lentils and rice according to their instructions. All of your ingredients go in the food processor at the same time. Then take your time pulsing a second at a time until everything is well mixed. Then run the food processor about 2-3 times for 2+ seconds until it is consistently mushy but not pulverized.

Form into balls and press onto a lightly oiled skillet at medium heat. Use your spatula to form into a perfect circle and cook 3-4 minutes on each side.

Here's how it should look like when it is mixed:

Then form it into balls and drop into the skillet.

Form and flatten with your spatula.

I like them a little blackened for that holiday weekend BBQ feel.

DONE! Use or freeze. I like to make a bunch and freeze them so I can have them when I have some yummy bread and toppings lying around.

Serve with delicious bread and toppings!

See how I stacked this burger with avocado, onion, Vegenaise, peppercini and ketchup.
