We are by the beach, in a warm climate where we are outside all the time and I'm an all-natural, organic momma, so people are always asking me what kind of sunscreen we use.
Since I don't really consider myself an expert, I make a yearly or so check on EWG.org Skin Deep where they rate the safety and efficacy of sunscreen. Then I search for the best rated sunscreens on amazon.com where I can hopefully get a monthly subscription of the one with the best reviews I can find.
This year, we went with Thinkbaby sunscreen SPF50+ and so far, I'm pretty happy with it.
Like I said we are outside ALL the time and neither of us get a sunburn. I usually use the baby sunscreen, too, because I figure it has the least harmful ingredients. Here's the chart you will find on EWG's Skin Deep website regarding ThinkBaby:
It is a little scary that even a sunscreen rated as a Level 1 out of 10 (10 being the worst) still has any concerns whatsoever, but just for comparison, here is Coppertone Babies sunscreen which is rated a 7 - terrible:
ThinkBaby is creamy, has a nice smell, and works well. It is a little pricey, and tends to go on a slightly thick which takes some rubbing, but have not found a more liquid or spray sunscreen that is rated very well.
To get the BEST deal on the ThinkBaby Sunscreen, I do Amazon Subscribe and Save AND Amazon Mom, combining 5 products when I place my Subscribe and Save Order to get 20% off. You can do this as a free trial and start to pay the Amazon Prime subscription if you like it.
I explain how to get up to 20% off on your Amazon HERE.
Hey, I know we are impatient and heavy cream sunscreens are inconvenient, but I'll err on the side of safety from the sun for now and if I can get 20% off? It's on!
