Pumpkin Banana Shake

Even though it is unbearably hot here in SoCal, right now, I was feeling like getting into the Fall spirit with a little pumpkin shake. It was my first attempt at such a thing and it was a hit! There is no cow's milk in this shake, just soy. No, I'm not afraid that soy will give me cancer or give my son man-boobs. That is a myth. As long as it is organic, it is good for you!

This recipe makes 2 small smoothies, or 1 larger and 1 smaller (it made mommy and toddler shakes!)

What you need:
3/4 cup pumpkin
1 banana
1/4 cup vanilla yogurt (soy)
1/2 cup soy milk
1 cup ice

I put everything BUT the ice in the blender first. That way, it doesn't get destroyed and melt while I'm blending. I have a powerful Vitamix blender, but if you have a less powerful one, you may need a little more liquid to get it going. Then once it is blending nicely, toss in your ice to cool it.

Enjoy!

  1. Never thought of putting pumpkin into a shake. Sounds good to have for a snack since it's starting to warm up.

  3. I should try this. I've been looking for ideas to use pumpkin puree in my freezer.
