Review - Shelby's Snack Shack Game

This week, we got the opportunity to review another awesome Educational Insights game called Shelby'S Snack Shack. These guys are now becoming known for their excellent toys in my household, and their games are getting a lot of play requests by the little guy.

Shelby's Snack Shack Game is a counting game where the skills involved are simply following directions, turn taking, counting up to five, a little bit of strategy, and good sportsmanship (ie. not crying when you lose bones or lose the game). It is also winner of a Parent's Choice Silver Honor Award!

It is recommended for ages 4 and up and is meant for 2 to 4 players. Our son is just under 3 years old, but his unbiased Mommy feel that he is pretty advanced and he was able to play just fine.

The game comes with a double spinner, where you spin an action and a quantity if applicable, a bunch of rubber bones, a Shelby doggy "Squeezer" to pick up the bones on your turn, and four cups, where players collect their bones. The box bottom turns into a "beach" where you place all the bones that need to be picked up. Players take turns winning bones, losing bones, stealing bones, or losing a turn, depending on spinner results.

Although the game doesn't necessarily need the Squeezer (you could pick up bones with your hands) passing the doggy to the next player is a great way to remember whose turn it is.

Besides being charmingly adorable this is another great quality game for the little kids. It is easy to play and so much fun! We've played it quite a few times since receiving it and played multiple times in one session. 

We really are a big fan and would highly recommend this for a gift or any family with younger childern that likes to have some time away from the TV to hang out and have a little friendly competition.
