We love to bake around here. I am 9 months pregnant, tomorrow and I spent yesterday morning and this morning, you guessed it! Baking! This week, we received these great little Brighid's Kitchen Silicone Baking Cups to provide our honest review and I had 10 overripe bananas, so muffins were definitely in order.
The Brighid's Kitchen Silicone Baking cups are the re-usable eco-friendly replacement for the paper baking cups that we used to use once and throw away. They come in a sturdy little box that I recommend keeping for storing the cups.
There are 12 baking cups in the box in an adorable rainbow of Pink, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple. They can go in the oven up to 446 degrees F, the freezer, the microwave, and the dishwasher. Plus, they are BPA free and made of FDA approved food grade silicone.
Brighid's Kitchen Baking Cups worked wonderfully for my muffins. I put my cups in a muffin tin, but you are able to place them directly on a baking sheet and into the oven as well if you prefer.
The muffins baked up perfectly and they pop right out of the cups when they were ready to eat leaving very little residue behind. Then, I just place the dirty cups in upside down on the top rack of the dishwasher and they clean up as good as new so I can use them over and over again.
In case you were wondering, the recipe is my Vegan Chocolate Walnut Chocolate Chip Banana Bread.

ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of silicone bake ware within its limitations. No need to grease prior to use. I bake fat-free breakfast muffins on a regular basis; they stick to paper cupcake papers so that one loses half a muffin to the paper.

ReplyDeleteI wrote my comment in the form, but not sure if I should write it here. I liked seeing her pull out the muffin, it slid right out. I wish she would have shown the dishwasher and how to put them in the top rack. I worry they might fall through. Is there a holder? Thanks, I like these. I may look for them at the stores.

We got through a TON of paper baking cups, because I usually bake 24 muffins / cupcakes at a time. I love, love, love the idea of having reusable ones. Although it may be more effort to clean them than disposable ones, I love that they save on waste!
