Easy DIY No Concrete Flagstone Patio

So you gotta love a day that starts out with a massive rock delivery in your driveway. It is vaguely reminiscent of a rock delivery from a few years back that took FOREVER to disappear.

Here are the beautiful flagstones we purchased. They are Sonora Gold.

A few tons of 'em!

Hubby has been working on leveling the area in his free time...

Then he rolled out some landscape barrier...

... with a little help from his little buddy.

Then he laid down some of our California Gold gravel, and some of the beautiful flagstone. You can see our neighbor getting solar panels in the background. I can't wait to hear about them, we're next!!!

While hubby started working on the flagstone, I worked on a pattern of the "old" Autumn Flame flagstone we used for the path in the front. It is a darker color with more orange and blue. It is just perfect for a spiral through the more yellow Sonora Gold. This will add some visual interest in a low traffic open space. We will probably have some pottery and some chairs out there, but nothing major.

He likes to lay them all out, first, so he can see which ones he likes for which spot.

Then he starts laying them in the corner how he likes them.

Once he likes the layout, he starts adding gravel and leveling.

I can't wait to see it finished!
