I love baking and I've been having a lot of fun making some of my favorite cookie recipes over the holidays. The only thing I don't like is wasting parchment paper on each batch or even worse, running out of parchment paper and having to bake cookies on my icky looking baking pans. Well, I just got the chance to review a new silicone baking mat from BakeitFun and I will never have to bake on icky cookie sheets or waste parchment ever again!
The BakeitFun Premium silicone baking mat is made of woven fiberglass and coated with food grade silicone. It is FDA and LFGB approved and 100% BPA free. It is also dishwasher and microwave safe. You can bake cookies or virtually anything on it and it will easily wipe clean. Plus, you can use this mat over 2000 times! That is a lot of batches of cookies...
We tried the baking mat out with my vegan Cracked Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookies. I love that there are little circles on the mat to help you space out your cookies. If you need to measure your dough or cookies, there are handy ruler marks around this baking mat, too.
These particular cookies can be particularly messy because the cracks allow some of the sticky peanut butter to ooze out, but I figured that if I'm going to review a baking mat, I may as well put it to the ultimate test.
I baked my first batch of cookies and I was quite impressed with how they came right off the baking mat. I was able to set my next batch up on the same mat, right away without cleaning it. Batch number two came off the mat without a hitch and the mat simply wiped clean. I left it out to dry, then rolled it up, and stashed it away for next time.
My cookies came out beautifully!
I really love the BakeitFun mat. I love how eco-friendly it is not to waste parchment and the quality of my cookies were just cooked to perfection!
I'm probably going to pick up another one, so I can have a sheet of cookies on deck and move even faster next time.
