Build a LEGO DUPLO Party Tray

My little guy and I have been making things out of DUPLO for the last week. He is 3 and had not really showed much interest in DUPLO until I started playing with it, but we are BOTH having fun with it! My latest creation? A party tray made out of DUPLO bricks that would be perfect for a birthday party!

It doesn't even have to be a DUPLO birthday party. I like these for a LEGO birthday party because they are a lot easier and faster to make than if you make it out of LEGO, and it still looks great with a LEGO theme.

Best part? NO GLUE is needed!

The most important thing to think about when making one of these is to try to use your pieces wisely. I like to separate the different sizes of bricks first, then try to save certain pieces that will only work in specific areas and not others. For instance, ones with printing on them can face the bottom.

You can see that I used my tall bricks that are two regular bricks high along the edges. I locked them in every few bricks. I saved my really long bricks for the ends of the tray so it was a little sturdier, but this tray is only meant to sit on a table and not be carried around. It also goes great with my DUPLO Cake Plate!

I'd love to leave mine out on a table for decoration, but I don't think my little dude is going to let me. He is building brick towers, running out pieces and eyeing right now...

  12. Geeze! I wish I had all my grandsons Legos now -they are both too old for them now, but if I see some at a resale shop or yard sale, I'm scooping them up! You could also use washsbi tape on the try for more decoration!
