Easy Almond Milk Made from Almond Butter

I've been tasting and testing all different non-animal milks this year. We tried different almond milks, coconut milks, and the labels, flavors, prices, and behavior in a cup of coffee all came into play. Want to know the best tasting milk we found? Home made! Don't panic! This is an easy recipe that you can make on-demand without much mess so you can have fresh milk whenever you want it. It tastes good, and works well in recipes, cereal, and coffee.

What most people don't know is that you can easily make nut milk from nut butter. It is a 1 Tbsb to 1 Cup ratio of butter to water and everything else is to taste. It can be made in a blender and stored in a covered jar in the fridge.

I know almond butter is expensive, but we have an organic brand called Cadia, we find in Frazier Farms, here in Southern California and it is almost half the price of the stuff we find elsewhere. It is $11.99 per jar, but this is one of those cases where I feel it is worth it to spend the extra money on something where you know you are getting an organic, healthy, product, especially if  milk plays a major role in much of your recipes and kids meals.

What you need:
1 Tbsp Almond butter
1 Cup water
pinch or salt to taste
a few drops vanilla to taste
a splash of maple syrup (or sweetener of choice) taste

What you do:
Put your Almond butter and water in the blender. Blend well. Add in your salt, some vanilla, and maple syrup.
Enjoy!

Do you know of a great deal on organic almond butter, have a non-animal milk you like or make milk from almond butter yourself? We want to hear about it - Comment Below!
