Vegan Character Dining Disney World - 1st Birthday Princess Dinner at Epcot Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

This year we had a vegan character dining Disney World experience for my daughter's first birthday! Ever since my niece was 3 years old when I met her for the first time (she  will be 13 this summer) we have been going every couple of years to the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in the Norway Pavillion for a really special character dining experience. It is pricey for what you get but they have a salad bar/buffet that you can load up on which has plenty of vegan options and this comes with the vegan main course. Last year it was somewhat of a black bean patty which was nice but this year it was much better...

When you find vegan food at Epcot at Walt Disney World in Florida!

This time it was 5 of us in the party with my niece and all but one of us ordered the vegan dish. They even made a baby version for our little girl who is only two!

Although  I loved the entree, I hope someday they come up with a vegan mac n cheese or some type of more kid-friendly dish for our little vegans. The veggies are a dish best served hidden. Preferably in a vegan cheesy substance.

At two, you are still free at Disney restaurants and it is so cute that they make her a mini-entree but she really only ate some of the spoonfuls of lentils I served her.

My son sadly didn't touch his dish. Not one bite.

He was overly pleased with the bread and butter, dessert, and princess smooches.

He was in a kiss coma right before I went into a food coma...

The other big plus of this visit was that our waitress (and her twin sister who also works there) said she was also a vegan and walked me over to the buffet to point out all the vegan dishes. I was able to put together this amazing salad. She brought us out a big plate of vegan butter because even the bread was vegan!

I was so happy that the potato salad was vegan! It was my favorite! I wouldn't have guessed it was had she not pointed it out to me.

I loved the main course. I thought the lentils were wonderful and would have eaten a lot more had they been a little more generous on the scoop. The roasted veggie tower was absolutely lovely. I enjoyed every vegetable and the mushroom was amazing.

My son made up for the fact that he had only eaten a roll with a generous slathering of vegan butter by destroying the vegetarian desserts (not pictured)

The rest of us had this!

For dessert, they brought us an all vegan shareable hidden-Mickey ice cream sundae with different cookies and fresh strawberries and blueberries. It was a definite crowd-pleaser!

The Royal Banquet Hall is a total fairy tale extravaganza. You are immersed in the Disney princess experience from the moment you enter.

Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora, and Ariel all visit your table. You get a photo moment with Belle when you arrive. There is a little parade with all the little kids and the princesses. If you bring a little one, the princess will take his or her hand for the parade.

I'm thankful that we got to do this with our niece who helped me make the decision to book the reservation even though she is at the stage where she let the littles have their time in the spotlight with the princesses.

Just the thought of how quickly my niece grew up and seeing my daughter nearly the same age as the first time we went brought tears to my eyes...

It is quite an expensive experience, especially when one of the little kids barely ate a thing and is charged adult price but the cute pictures, interaction with princess, air conditioning, wine, beer, cocktails, and what really turns out to be a lot of heathly vegan food it is totally worth it!

Oh and the Florida weather made for great hair on the baby!
