LEGO Best Sets of 2017 Gift Guide

So many great LEGO sets out there right now for your serious LEGO maniacs to you composed collectors, there is a set for everyone. If you are unsure of what LEGO sets are the best for 2017 take it from a former LEGOLAND Master Model Builder. Here are some of my favorite LEGO sets for gifts.

As always, there are lots of great sets to choose from this holiday season. There are new Disney sets, like Moana and Ariel, and of course, the Star Wars line - we aren't really all that much into that except we already have our Star Wars and LEGO Friends Advent Calendars! Some of these setss will most likely be showing up under our tree (or already have been!

The Disney Castle

You may find it for a decent price on Amazon but not likely. This is a great investment set. It is very well designed. You can play inside like a dollhouse, too which makes it really interactive and interesting for kids.

Disney fanatics - if you are looking to go all out for Christmas then this is for you.

The Ninjago Movie

There quite a few Ninjago models out there this season but whether or not you like Ninjago, you cannot help to appreciate the coolness of this LEGO set. It is several stories of shopping, dining and fun with an Asian flair. If you're kids are into Ninjago like mine are, this is the big one to get.

The Ninjago Movie Destiny's Bounty

Another really cool Ninjago Movie set. There are other great Ninjago Sets and some much more affordable but I personally want to highlight how cool this particular one looks!

Women of NASA

Women of NASA retails for $24.99

This is an awesome little set highlighting females from the space program. It has 3 great little vignettes each with their own cool models and minifigs of astronauts and scientists all our kids can look up to. It features minifigures of 4 pioneering women of NASA— astronomer and educator Nancy Grace Roman, computer scientist and entrepreneur Margaret Hamilton, astronaut, physicist and entrepreneur Sally Ride and astronaut, physician and engineer Mae Jemison.

Silent Mary

This is a great model for an older kid or display. You don't need to be a movie fan to like a pirate ship!

Ariel and the Magical Spell

Ariel and the Magical Spell retails for $29.99

All around pretty set which comes with Ursula and Flounder and some great pieces to play with.

Magic Rescue from the Goblin Village

If you are looking for a really pretty set with pretty pieces you can check out the Magic Rescue Elves set or pretty much anything from the Elves line. It is kinda like LEGO Friends but with goblins and dragons!

Moana's Ocean Voyage

You can OFTEN find the Disney sets for a DEEP discount on Amazon.

Moana is Disney's smash hit and they make it very affordable with this great seat with Moana, Maui and Hey hey.

Even MORE affordable and therefore SUPER-giftable Moana's Island Adventure has the cute little piggy.

DUPLO Big Fair

This is a great set for the busy little one. There is lots to do, move, and play here!

This isn't a new set but this choo choo lands on my list again. I loved the DUPLO trains with my son. We still get them out once in a while and build tunnels and such. It's a great holiday gift set to start with and a lot more customize-able than your standard train sets.

DUPLO Forest Park

This is a great set because of the nice forest animals that are included. We have the zoo and safari sets and now we need to get this one for the deer, foxes, bear, and squirrel!

I think this is probably one of the greatest DUPLO sets of all time. It is the quintessential holiday set complete with Santa, sleigh, and a reindeer. I think I'll have to "collect" one of these for myself when I get one for the little one to play with. It is bound to be a set that will be sought after someday.

There are a bunch of new Brickheadz out that would be a little larger stocking stuffer type gifts. Belle, Batman, some Ninjago and Star Wars guys... Very reasonably priced, fun to build, and collect, at $9.99 I'd grab a few!
